Edmonton Whitewater Paddlers (EWP)
Founded in 1973, Edmonton Whitewater Paddlers (EWP) is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the recreational and competitive aspects of canoeing and kayaking in Alberta. Our club fosters a community of paddlers of all skill levels, offering a wide range of programs, from beginner kayaking lessons to advanced training in canoe polo. As the first Canadian club to introduce the sport of Canoe Polo, EWP has played a pivotal role in growing this exciting sport, with our members representing Canada on the international stage since 1994.
We are committed to providing high-quality instruction and creating opportunities for members to explore and enjoy the rivers and lakes in our region. Our youth and adult programs include introductory courses, drop-in sessions, and competitive training, all aimed at building paddling skills and fostering a love for the sport. With a shared clubhouse in Edmonton and access to various facilities, we offer year-round programs, including winter pool sessions and summer river trips.
As a volunteer-run organization, we thrive on the passion of our members and the community we serve. We work closely with provincial and national bodies like the Alberta Canoe Polo Association, Alberta Whitewater Association, and Whitewater Canada, ensuring that our programs meet the highest standards.
At EWP, we believe in the power of paddling to connect people to nature and each other. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced paddler, we invite you to join our vibrant community and experience the thrill of whitewater paddling.
