Our Workplace Professionalism course, COM1030, provides students with essential skills for success in any industry. Through experiential learning opportunities, our students engage in real-world projects that prepare them for the challenges of today's workplace.


Steps for Matching:

Step 1: Match Request Submission: Employers submit their projects for consideration, initiating a collaborative process.

Step 2: Pre-Approval: After initial discussion with the professor to ensure project suitability, both parties confirm the match on the Riipen platform.

Step 3: Educator Choosing: Projects are presented to students, who select those they wish to collaborate on, fostering engagement and interest.

Step 4: Collaboration Starts: All communication and project work take place on the Riipen platform, ensuring transparency and efficiency for all stakeholders.


Ideal Partner:

We seek partners in environmental studies, field work, research, and report writing offering projects that provide meaningful learning experiences in these areas.

Project Examples

Project examples may fall under several areas including:

Administrative:

  • Develop a comprehensive operations manual for a fitness facility, outlining procedures for staff management, equipment maintenance, customer service protocols, etc.
  • Create a scheduling system to optimize facility usage, considering peak hours, class schedules, and staff availability.
  • Implement a customer feedback system to gather insights on facility experiences and areas for improvement.

Marketing:

  • Design and execute a social media marketing campaign to promote a fitness event or membership drive, targeting specific demographics.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and preferences in fitness activities among different age groups or cultural backgrounds.

Research:

  • Conduct a study on the effectiveness of different fitness programs in achieving specific health goals, such as weight loss, muscle gain, or stress reduction.
  • Analyze data from wearable fitness devices to track user behaviors and preferences, informing personalized workout recommendations.
  • Investigate the impact of socio-economic factors on access to fitness facilities and participation rates in different communities.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

  • Develop strategies to make fitness facilities more accessible to individuals with disabilities, including equipment adaptations and staff training.
