Description

The South Asian and Tamil Women's Collective (SATWC) is a grassroot, community based organization that focuses on creating spaces for intergenerational connection, growth, and learning for South Asian and Tamil women, girls, and gender diverse communities.

We do this by collaborating and engaging with the community to create research, programming, and events in the following areas: leadership, career development, mental health and well-being. Throughout our design process, we curate spaces for connection, joy and learning within and across communities.

As a grassroots collective, we are continuously growing and evolving in many ways, and our core goal is to support and respond to the emerging needs impacting South Asian and Tamil women, girls, and gender diverse communities.

The South Asian & Tamil Womens Collective (SATWC) is a grassroot, community based organization that focuses on creating spaces for intergenerational connection, growth, and learning for South Asian and Tamil women, girls, and gender diverse communities. We do this by creating programming and events on various topics such as career development, mentorship, leadership, and well-being using an anti-oppressive and equity lens. SATWC was recently awarded funding to conduct a two-year community-based research project focusing on the career/employment needs and realities of young South Asian & Tamil women, and gender diverse communities (ages 18 - 30) across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). We would like to collaborate with student(s) to support the literature review process and data analysis phase of the work. The literature review process has already started, and there are key reports/articles we need support with reviewing and analyzing to create a literature review report for community members to utilize. This will involve several different steps for the students, including:Familiarizing themselves with our community based research project and the types of papers, reports, articles that we are interested in reviewing and analyzing. Reading reports, papers, articles, etc. that are relevant to our area of research (employment and career development of young racialized women and gender diverse communities) Applying the categorization scheme that we have created to classify relevant themesSummarizing important findings from reports, papers, articles, etc. Additional steps in the process would also include:Working in collaboration with researchers to draft a literature review report
