Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Number of individual students required: (Example: 5 students)

OR

Number of students required to work in team: (Example: 2 teams of 3 students)

It’s important for us to have a better understanding of how our target audience perceives our brand and competitors. We want to develop clarity on our competitive advantages and optimize our marketing strategy for maximum donation, sponsorship, and volunteer recruitment.

This project will include:

  • An identification of our current competitors
  • An identification of potential future competitors (eg. a large company in a similar industry who may enter the space)
  • The creation of a matrix identifying features shared across the companies and those that are different.
  • A summary of 2-4 paragraphs describing our competitive advantages and disadvantages relative to the competition identified. This could be done in the form of a SWOT analysis.

We will give you access to organizational assets to support this project such as personnel, website analytics, sales and brand collateral, and more. We can suggest names of competitors to research.

Objective

We hope to gain a comprehensive understanding of the competitors in our space and how we can differentiate ourselves through our product/service offering, outreach, and our messaging.

About the company

Since our inception in 2008, we've maintained our values as an organization that puts our dogs' welfare first. Everything we do is driven by our passion for matching families with the right dog. We emphasize compatibility and build mutually beneficial relationships to ensure dogs are placed responsibly and given a permanent home. We do everything we can to provide foster families with the right resources and advice to raise happy, loving dogs. In addition, we make continuous efforts to stay in touch with our families and follow the success of our canines.
