Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The main goal for the project is to create an analysis of companies involved in the energy sector using publicly available data. The students are expected to collect and organize data from various sources to create a comprehensive map of the energy sector. The outcome of the project should be a detailed analysis of the companies involved in the energy sector. This data will then be used by the data science and marketing teams. This analysis will provide valuable insights for the company, helping it make informed decisions about investments and partnerships in the energy sector.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

To achieve the project goal, students will need to complete the following tasks:

  1. Gather data from publicly available sources such as government reports, industry reports, and company websites.
  2. Discuss the framework for the data with the client to ensure that the data collected is aligned with the client's needs and expectations.
  3. Deliver the data in a Python dataframe or excel sheet for easy analysis and visualization.
  4. Conduct an analysis of the data by sorting and clustering it using different types of feature engineering techniques to identify patterns and trends.
  5. Present the results of the analysis in a comprehensive and easy-to-understand format, such as graphs, tables, and summaries.

These tasks will require students to have strong data analysis skills, as well as experience working with Python and data visualization tools. Additionally, students will need to be able to work independently and effectively communicate with the client throughout the project.

How will you support learners in completing the project?
  1. Staff time: A dedicated project manager or mentor will be available to answer questions, provide guidance, and review progress throughout the project.
  2. Access to tools and technology: Students will have access to the necessary tools and technology, including computers, data analysis software, and visualization tools.
  3. Access to data: Students will be given access to relevant data sources, such as industry reports, government data, and company websites, to complete the analysis.
  4. Additional resources: The company may also provide additional resources such as books, articles, and training materials to help students build their knowledge and skills in data analysis and the energy sector.
  5. Feedback and review: Regular feedback and review sessions will be held to provide constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement, helping students to stay on track and achieve the project goals.
