- What is the main goal for this project?

Project Description:
To meeting growing global demand and add value to our Wollastonite ore, Canadian Wollastonite and a newly formed subsidiary, called “Newco” for the purposes of this document, will develop a processing plant for the wollastonite ore. Newco will design and build a plant to beneficiate 100,000 tpy of Wollastonite ore by a proven flotation process. This will generate 30,000 tpy of wollastonite product with additional high-value byproducts:
- 10,000 tpy of Magnetics
- 35,000 tpy of Diopside concentrates
- 22,000 tpy of Feldspar concentrates
- 3,000 tpy of Sulphide-Graphite concentrates
Deliverables:
The final deliverable is a Phase 1 Plan that includes a Project Management Plan, Procurement Plan, Execution Plan, Schedule, Cost Estimate that takes into account the following elements:
a) A plan for ensuring all of the required permits are in place prior to the commencement of construction
b) A Plan for site civil works including any topsoil removal, grading, cut & fill, contouring, runoff ditching, earthworks, roads, yards, gravel pads, concrete foundations, etc.
c) A Plan for temporary construction offices, lighting, power, hygiene facilities, scrap & garbage bins as required to carry out construction activities
d) A Plan for the installation and commissioning of the modular office, safety, control room & hygiene facility for temporary use during later phases of construction and later for plant operations
e) Design provisions and considerations must enable a future doubling of capacity as value-added markets develope
Deliverable 1: Phase 1 Project Management Plan – Draft
- This deliverable is to show a work-in-progress report with Project Plans that include but are not limited to:
- Project Management Plan including a Project Execution Plan; Engineering & Design Plan; Procurement Plan; Permitting Plan; Startup & Commissioning Plan for Phase 1 Activities
- Preliminary Cost Estimate for Phase 1
- Preliminary Schedule for Phase 1
Due Date: February 25, 2020 - In-person meeting (or conference call) in Toronto
Deliverable 2: Phase 1 Project Management Plan – Complete
- This deliverable is for a final and complete project management plan with costing that meets or exceeds the project requirements in the project description in the resources section on Riipen
- The final report should suit the requirements of a future project management team to move from plan to action in the next phases of planning
Due Date: Week of March 2-6 with in-person meeting & discussion week of Mar 2-6 2020
(Meeting & discussion date can be scheduled after Mar 6 with approval from the instructor and participants)

CW’s deposit is the only wollastonite mine in Canada and the only commercial diopside source in North America.
