Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Our company would like to explore designing high fidelity mock ups.

We would like a group of students to design a new prototype based off of flow charts and description of each major feature (details will be provided).

This will involve:

  • Attend an intro session that will be provided by company
  • The app caters to 2 audiences: 1 side caters to auto service shop owners (not tech savvy and do not like to spend time in front of a screen) while the other side caters to the general public (anyone that owns a car). Therefore, the app can look different for both audiences
  • Learning and using various software design tools. We strongly recommend students apply industry best practices to create a design that's very easy to understand and has minimum number of clicks to achieve user goals.
  • Creation of a screen by screen UX / UI prototype of a web application which can be used on all major browsers and be mobile friendly that can used to demo to clients and investors

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities:

  • Create high fidelity mock ups of the product based on information provided by the company
  • Familiarize themselves with a design tool of their choosing and understand how it works.
  • Design and build inside of the design tool all the needed screens for a prototype of our product
  • Present the final design screens to us with the context of all their choices they made, problems they encountered, and next steps they recommend.

Bonus (optional) step would include:

  • Conducting any sort of user testing on the prototypes to ensure ease of use and to collect user feedback.

Final deliverables should include

  • The design screens and all assets in a shareable format
  • A presentation as stated above of the final designs
About the company

Build a software platform to make it easy for auto service providers to efficiently manage questions from prospective clients, appointments, provide online payment capability, manage their day-to-day business, and scale their business. On the other hand, this will help vehicle owners easily request quotes and pricing information from multiple shops, get mechanic availability information, book appointments online, and be able to quickly get vehicle-related information. The goal is to have this platform as the standard app everyone uses for their car care needs.
