Details

Our company advertises thousands of products online. We hope to update and revamp our existing website to educate more customers on product ingredients.

We would like to work with students to develop a section on our website that is easy to maintain while providing an appealing interface for users. This will be developed on Shopify.

This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

  • Developing a UX/UI Design of the Ingredient dictionary prototype.
  • Developing the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript portion.
  • Providing training on updating and maintaining the website.

Bonus steps in the process would also include:

  • Testing prototypes with customers and refining ideas with feedback.
Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

  • Identification of the most suitable design of the ingredient dictionary.
  • Ability to implement a web development design from start to finish.
  • Recommendations for website maintenance.

Bonus steps would include:

  • Testing the website with users and making improvements based on user input

Final deliverables should include

  • An ingredient dictionary.
  • A final report.
Mentorship

Students can connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Our current products and website design
  • Our customer and industry insights

Business Description

Beauty, Braids & Beyond (BBB), co-founded by Rochelle, Tosin, and Jada, is an e-commerce beauty supply retailer that aims to revolutionize the beauty supply industry. By leveraging technology and through continuous research on Black hair, skin, and beauty, BBB will offer a personalized virtual shopping experience for all of our customers.
Business Objectives

BBB is dedicated to educating both women and men on the intersectionalities between science, culture, hair care, skincare, and beauty. Globally, many Women of Colour are unaware of the science behind healthy hair and skin. As a result, they routinely purchase ineffective hair and skin care products or utilize the wrong sequence of products to achieve their desired results. BBB uses education as a tool during our customers’ shopping experiences to ensure they can make informed decisions about their purchases.
