Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Recruiting both Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) has always been a struggle for hospitals. Consistently in Canada, there are more available nursing positions than nurses to fill these positions. With this is mind, the Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) is looking for creative solutions to attract and acquire the limited supply of LPNs and RNs. Some examples of recruitment limitations that VJH is experiencing is: high competition for nurses within British Columbia, lack of engagement on Post-Secondary campuses, nurses are unionized meaning wages and benefits are standardized, high cost of living, limited child care, and many more.

Working with the Director of Clinical Services your students will learn how to navigate a complex organization, a regulated industry, and find creative ways to differentiate and attract talent that are not simply increasing wages or lengthening vacation.

The goal of this project is for your students to evaluate VJH’s current Nurse Talent Acquisition & Marketing tactics, research best practices in Nurse Talent Acquisition, recommend long term solutions and tactics, and recommend short term solutions and tactics. Students will be encouraged to think outside the box and deliver a mixture on solutions that VJH can implement right away and solutions that will take time to implement.
