Details

Support the engagement activities of the Office of Human Rights, Diversity, and Equity. This includes working on exciting projects related to:

  • EDI Training - unconscious bias; anti-discrimination response; anti-oppressions; etc.
  • Awareness days and initiatives - Black History Month; International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination; International Day for Person with Disabilities; Understanding Hate speaker series; etc.
  • Community outreach - Champions of Diversity and Equity student training initiative

Students applying for this opportunity must be familiar with Google suite and have access to a computer. Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is required. Previous education or training relating to human rights, equity, and inclusion is an asset

Mentorship

The student will be mentored by Irfan Chaudhry. This will be in the form of weekly check in meetings as well as on demand (as initiated by the student). The student will receive fairly strong guidance at the start of the project, but will be required to be fairly independent in completing their work.

MacEwan University's Office of Sexual Violence Prevention, Education and Response works to create working and learning environment that is free from sexual violence, and where the University community feels safe and supported.

We offer training, workshops, outreach and events to MacEwan community members throughout the academic year and provide free and confidential support to individuals who have been impacted by sexual violence. Our efforts are based on an anti-oppressive, survivor-centered, feminist analysis of sexual violence and a commitment to social justice.
