SUMMARY

BC Hospice Palliative Care Association is a not-for-profit, membership organization, which has been representing individuals and organizations committed to promoting and delivering hospice/palliative care to British Columbians since 1986

Using real organization data, students will spot trends and relationships to submit recommendations and conclusions to the decision-makers about funding hospices equitably..

WHAT WE WANT STUDENTS TO DO?

We’d like students to help analyze our datasets to draw helpful insights.

Here are some of the topics we’d like students to explore throughout this project:

  • Core issues we can use to change the funding processes.
  • Analyze your data to spot trends and relationships among services vs expencies
  • Create tables and graphs of summary statistics of key variables
  • Identifying and implementing any necessary technology infrastructure

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

A report of the data they have analyzed to answer questions about, hospice capacity, funding and services.

We are wanting to build a business case around hospice societies in BC being underfunded and needing data that shows this via CRA, funding metrics and other sources to highlight the ask.

The final project will include (as part of a 5-10 page document):

  • A summary of important and insightful information discovered from the available data
  • Tables and graphs of important statistics and relationships
  • A summary of conclusions and any recommendations based on the data and information obtained

How will you support learners in completing the project?

We will proivde GSuites for access, weekly team meetings and appointed a project lead to connet with when needed
