The main goal for the project is to design and implement battery energy storage systems that use EV batteries at the end of their mobility useful lives, in order to accelerate the adoption of renewable energies and replace fossil fuels for a zero emissions society. This will involve several different steps for the students, including:


- Analyzing power conversion systems and protection devices for battery energy storage systems.


- Sizing battery energy storage systems based on specific requirements and constraints.


- Developing a single line diagram for the integration of battery energy storage systems into the existing power infrastructure.


Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities:


- Detailed analysis of power conversion systems and protection devices suitable for battery energy storage systems.


- Sizing calculations and design specifications for the battery energy storage systems.


- Single line diagram for the integration of battery energy storage systems into the existing power infrastructure.



Final deliverables:


- Detailed technical report including the analysis, sizing calculations, and design specifications.


- Single line diagram in electronic format.


- Presentation explaining the design process and outcomes.
