你好 [nei5 hou2], means Hello in Cantonese! We are REDEGG Edutainment, a Vancouver-based tech startup on a mission to promote the beauty of the Chinese language and culture to kids through our captivating story-reading platform and lovable characters.


Our company is looking to solidify our brand identity, by revamping the logo that we currently have and creating a set of lovable characters as REDEGG's brand mascot, they will be the face of our story-reading platform and the main characters in our original stories.


We are looking to better connect with kids and families by standing out and being memorable while also being able to use the designs the students offer in a marketing setting. We are looking for real designs that we could use in our branding as well as general branding knowledge. The right candidate would work to create concepts of new logos and develop a set of cute characters based on the Chinese 12 Zodiac animals.


This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

  • Researching the brand identity, and competitors to see what they are doing.
  • Logo proposal that reflects REDEGG as a children-facing startup
  • Work to create 12 characters with a unique personality
  • Create custom branding sheets with colours and fonts
  • Help create assets using software tools that can be implemented in our marketing
Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities:

  • Research into brand
  • Logo ideas and concepts
  • Reference for 12 Characters design and iteration
  • Custom asset for us to use later on in marketing


Final deliverables should include

  • A foundation of REDEGG's new logo, and 12 brand characters
  • Related assets of designed characters
  • A document with references and usage of logo, colour, fonts and characters
Mentorship

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Access to personnel, website analytics, sales and brand collateral, and more
  • Names of competitors to understand the market
  • Work within the student's software expertise
