Details

The research assistant will support the development of projects related to the use of animal-related stimuli (e.g., pictures of animals) for stress reduction. This project will involve three phases in total. This application is for Phase 2.

Phase 2 will involve the completing the analysis of collected project data and liaising with statistical consultants on the best methods to employ. Furthermore, the successful applicant will be expected to begin work on knowledge mobilization activities such as writing a rough draft of the findings for publication in a scientific journal.

This project will be conducted under the guidance of Dr. Eric Legge, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at MacEwan University.

Deliverables

The project may include, but is not limited to:

  • Data analysis to assess the efficacy of the study intervention compared to control interventions, as well as the interaction of these findings with participant factors (e.g., personality profile, mental health status, demographic characteristics, etc.) using SPSS/JASP.
  • Interpretation, summarization, and reporting of data analysis outputs.
  • Liaising with statistical consultants and integrating their feedback into project workflows.
  • Supporting the project by surveying relevant literature and integrating relevant literature with project findings.
  • Begin work on knowledge mobilization activities such as writing a rough draft of the findings for publication in a scientific journal.
  • Tracking and responding to participant inquiries about the project.

This phase of the project is expected to take 80-hours to complete over 6-weeks. The project is expected to start on Sept. 27, but is negotiable. The majority of project work can be done remotely.

Mentorship

The student will work closely with the supervising primary project manager, Dr. Eric Legge, who is available for questions. This will also include occasional progress meetings where adjustments to the student's tasks and duties may be made if necessary.
