Our goals for this project are:
1)To identify grant funding for which we are eligible as a 501 (c) 6 and which would support initiatives such as:
- Sculpture or public art installations
- Public murals
- Street and sidewalk planters
- Holiday decorations
- Street or sidewalk lighting or lighting hanging from buildings to enhance safety and beauty of the area
- Pickleball court
- Dog park
- Community events
- Christmas parade
- Music, theater, film, or art festivals
- Park enhancement or improvement
- Downtown trolley
- Water taxi
- Pedal boats or other outdoor recreation
2) Apply for 10 - 15 suitable opportunities. This project provides learners with the chance to apply research and grant-writing skills, contributing to the beautification and revitalization of Downtown Stockton.
Learners will provide a report outlining the grant opportunities identified, how they are a good fit for both our organization as well as the grant criteria/guidelines, and which projects in our list they think would be the best fit.
Out of the possible grant opportunities, we would like the students to apply for 10 - 15 grants, with assistance from DSA staff in terms of facts and messaging.
If we can get 10 - 15 solid/fitting grant applications submitted, that would be amazing. We hope that at least a few of these will result in funding being awarded and some of these projects getting executed!
Direct involvement in project tasks, offering guidance, and demonstrating techniques.
Providing access to necessary tools, software, and resources required for project completion.
Scheduled check-ins to discuss progress, address challenges, and provide feedback.

About the company
The Downtown Stockton Alliance (DSA) is a public/private partnership uniting almost 1,000 property owners and downtown businesses. The non-profit DSA was incorporated in 1996 as a 501(c)(6) corporation and officially began operations in 1998. Funded by a Property Based Improvement District (PBID) which allows property owners to self-assess on properties and a Business Improvement District (BID) allowing business owners to self-assess their businesses, the Downtown Stockton District was voted into creation in 1997, renewed for a second five-year period in 2002, next for a ten-year period in 2007, and most recently in 2017 for another ten-year period until 2027. Downtown Stockton Alliance (DSA) focuses in five critical areas as determined by the Downtown Management District Plan: Maintenance, Community Ambassadorship, Public Policies, Economic Development, and Marketing.
