Position: Graphic Designer, George Brown College, Corporate Communications Department.
Preference will be given to applicants from George Brown College
The Graphic Designer will work with George Brown College’s internal communications team to develop creative and innovative graphics to help communicate progress on the college’s Vision 2030 / Strategy 2022 initiative, by presenting complex information and data in a visually compelling way.
The role will be primarily responsible for storytelling through infographics. Duties will include creating new visual assets, intended primarily for our employee audience, to be shared via our intranet, GBCommunity – and possibly elsewhere (e.g. PowerPoint presentations, meetings, etc.)
Key Duties
- Work independently from ideation to conception by taking provided copy and data and translate it into meaningful and beautiful infographics that tell a story.
- Ideally, create an infographic template that could be updated over time to show progress on Strategic projects and priorities.
Employment Requirements – Technical
- Graphic Design skills including familiarity with tools like: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Dreamweaver, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to collect, process, understand and communicate information from raw data
- Video and animation skills an asset
- Typography and information design skills an asset
- Must work within established GBC brand standards

Length of Work Term
- Maximum of 8 weeks
- Up to 10 hours per week

About the company
The WIL office at George Brown supports Experiential Learning on campus. Experiential Learning in an umbrella term used to cover all of the opportunities available to students to take part in sector-specific learning experiences. These opportunities can take place in a variety of settings including workplaces, simulation facilities, labs, shops, and studios in both educational, workplace and practice environments. They are a chance for students to experience their field or industry and learn what’s expected of them before graduating.
