Project scope
- What is the main goal for this project?
-
The Green Career Centre’s mission is to prepare underrepresented youth for green careers. With a focus on supporting BIPOC, newcomers and women, the Green Career Centre works by and for these communities to bridge the gap between equitable, accessible and transparent social and environmental employment opportunities. With a climate justice lens and through ongoing consultations and focus groups, the Green Career Centre bridges the disconnect between these underserved communities and green careers in sustainability. We offer resources, events, and a strong network of support in order to integrate underserved communities into the green labour market in what is currently Canada.
- What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
-
Students will have several tasks to complete and can choose to work on any of the following:
- Liaising with vendors, caterers, participants and employers at our career fair
- Conducting research on event caterers, employers, sponsors and inputting information into a centralized spreadsheet
- Conducting outreach to key stakeholders involved in our green career fair, career development workshops and other networking events (i.e. outreach to student organizations and clubs, sponsorship emails and calls, etc.)
- Developing print and online marketing collateral and campaigns for our events (i.e. scripts, slides, bingo cards, stickers, name tags, guides, banners, etc.)
- Attending our events and assisting with the logistics on the day of the event
- Putting together workshop content for internal and external events (i.e. Sustainable Jobs Plan Webinar, Sustainable Workplace Practices Workshop, How to Get Paid to Pursue Your Passion, etc.)
- Gather, track and report quantitative and qualitative data for green career projects in line with our funders’ expectations (i.e. via pre and post event surveys)
