Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Desserts App is a mobile application that allows people to fully customize and quickly purchase desserts, especially the custom ones (e.g. three-tier unicorn cakes), from local bakeries.

Users have requested the functionality to contact buyers and/or sellers directly. To address this, we would like to add a real-time chat function to our existing application.

We would like students to focus on:

  • Selecting the best technologies for creating a real-time application.
  • Creating a general chat application which can be easily extended with new features in the future.
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

The final deliverables include:

  • Documentation around models and attributes used to model any data.
  • A brief wireframe or mock-up of the resulting system’s user interface and data flow.
  • The product roadmap used to create the system and implementation plan including a list of user stories detailing all possible interactions with the system.
  • The source code for the system, preferably in a source control system such as Git.

Desserts App is a mobile app that eases customizing and purchasing desserts online from local dessert shops and bakeries.

We help bakeries list all of their products, quickly take custom complex orders (e.g. three-tier unicorn cakes), and increase sales at affordable costs while allowing customers to purchase precisely desired tastes in seconds. We envision offering any dessert and bakery products on our platform and making those tastes highly accessible and customizable for our users, based on their likes and dietary preferences.
