This study examines how university students and educators apply their communication and learning styles/approaches in relation to a class/lesson. By comparing these two styles/approaches, the intent is to determine if there are any correlations with respect to the way that they are applied in class/lesson activities. Two student Research Assistants will work on the redevelopment and adaptation of a comprehensive online Inventories that are used to understand how university students and professors apply their communication and learning approaches within a classroom setting (Educators` Application of Their Learning and Communication Styles (EALCS) Inventory (Mazo, 2008)). Also, a new website for this research study will be developed for the longitudinal project.
Projects students will work on are as follows:
- Inventory Development: The re-development and adaptation of two inventories - 1) one for university educators, and 2) one for university students. (Phase I)
- Website Development: The creation and development of a comprehensive website that provides general information about the study and provides access to the two inventories so that university educators and students can complete the inventories. Launch website to begin data collection stage. (Phases I-II)
- Content Creation: Researching and writing of content for the inventories and for the website.(Phases I-II)
- Data Collection: Collecting data from the online inventories, analyzing the data, and presenting it in tables/charts, etc. as needed. (Phases 1-V)
The students will be supported by direct supervising and advising when completing the project.
