Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

1. Evaluate the BIA's HR resource gap as projects and BIA initiatives become more established and continue to grow and make recommendations for implementation. 2. Prepare a hiring strategy and templates that will be effective for our niche market, limited resources and unique range of activities.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

1. Evaluate the HR resource gap and provide a summary report:

  • Analysis of the organization's strategic plan and resources to evaluate high, medium and low priority HR resource gaps.
  • A sharable executive style type summary of the above with well-positioned recommendations for implementation in the short-term (2024) as well as some top mid to long-term recommendations.
  • Salary and other relevant research should be be incorporated into recommendations.

2. Prepare a hiring strategy and templates:

  • Written job postings, reference checks forms and interview questions to implement the recommendations and act as templates for future hiring.
  • Suggested recruitment methods and channels by job type that would suite our organization, and be feasible for our small team to implement. For examples, shortlisting strategies by platform, along with other methodologies.

Located along the Yonge corridor between Hwy 401 and just North of Finch Avenue, our urban district is experiencing significant development. The Yonge North York BIA’s vision is to be the preferred destination in North Toronto for businesses, residents, visitors and workers to live, work and play: By promoting the area as an accessible, safe, urban, vibrant and alternative destination to downtown Toronto and the suburbs; By creating economic growth and opportunity for members; and By improving the quality of life through business attraction, capacity building, events, marketing, public realm, retention and revitalization.
