你好 [nei5 hou2], means Hello in Cantonese! We are REDEGG Edutainment, a Vancouver-based tech startup on a mission to promote the beauty of the Chinese language and culture to kids through our captivating story-reading platform and lovable characters.

Our company would like to explore revisiting the current UX practice on our story-reading platform with a prototype. Before Riipen, we ran 5 user research and play-testing rounds with over 50+ families and launched our MVP to the market. Our next BIG GOAL is growing the MVP to version 2.0. We are always on the lookout for innovative and fresh UI and UX ideas that will help our users.

This will involve:

• Conducting an internal audit and competitive analysis on our existing story-reading platform. We are happy to provide a walkthrough and insights from previous research and testing to help bring them up to speed.
• Identifying key areas of improvement on our current platform with information architecture, and what areas of focus might return the best results in a redesign.
• Using Figma, create a screen-by-screen UX / UI interactive prototype of REDEGG's story-reading platform, based on the refined journey map.
• It must be web, tablet and mobile-friendly.
• Create and manage a Design system for effective design hand-off and collaboration with software developers.

Bonus tasks would include:

• Conducting UX / UI testing with real potential users potentially involving interactive prototypes or other software tools to support this.

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities:

• Familiarize themselves with our existing product
• Familiarize themselves with Figma and understand how it works
• Design all the needed screens for a prototype of REDEGG's story-reading platform
• Present the final design screens to us with the context of all the choices they made, problems they encountered, and the next steps they recommended.

Bonus steps would include:

• Conducting any sort of user testing on the prototypes to ensure ease of use and to collect user feedback.

Final deliverables should include

• The design screens and all assets in a shareable format
• A presentation as stated above of the final designs

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

• Current product understanding
• Industry-standard design tools and applications
• Any sort of branding or styling advice
• Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter
