statistical analysis influencing skills communication research writing psychologyThis project is designed to facilitate the design and communication of research on how pet animals influence psychological wellbeing and cognitive processes (e.g., social perceptions/relationship dynamics, memory, judgements). Project team members will be responsible for designing/deploying research tools to achieve project deliverables, statistical analysis, and engage in knowledge mobilization activities.
*Note: not all team members will need to complete each of these tasks; some task will be split amongst multiple team-members, while others will be completed by individual members.
- Assist with writing scientific reports for knowledge mobilization.
- Assist with pre-registration of project objectives and methodologies.
- Help plan, conduct, and interpret advanced statistical analyses/models.
- Develop research tools that will allow us to test immediate and future research questions in the study domain. This may require coding experience.
- Conduct assessments using psychological and physiological measurement tools.
- Develop a qualitative coding manual.
- Perform data entry, cleaning, and qualitative coding.
- Work effectively as part of a highly integrated team.
Students will be supervised and trained by the PI and senior project coordinator for all activities. The senior project coordinator will check in weekly with team members.
Students will receive a check-in email from the project lead bi-weekly.
Students will be informed that they can reach out to the project lead or project coordinator at any time they need assistance.
About the company
The Department of Psychology is a large and dynamic department, offering both a major and a minor in psychology in both the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, and a honours degree option. Our 23 tenured and tenure-track faculty members are engaged in research in all areas of psychology, and, in addition to offering a high caliber of classroom instruction, students are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities such as honours and independent studies to add further depth to their educational experience. Field placements in clinical psychology, at a variety of community organizations, is also made available to eligible students.
