research mentorshipNOSTOS - A Veteran’s Journey, is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to supporting veterans transitioning to civilian life. Our intent is to leverage and connect existing resources vs. creating another stand-alone offering.
Our need is to identify potential strategic partnerships in the government, private and non-profit sector.
Considerations: What type of partnerships would be most appropriate for the NOSTOS model: infrastructure, funding, technology, mentoring, etc? What partnerships would most enable scaling? Is there an organization that could be an umbrella for NOSTOS? What might a partnership with the VA look like? Are there public-private collaboration models in other industries and countries that could be replicated?
Desired outcomes include:
- Survey of successful veteran transition initiatives across sectors
- Survey of Public-Private Collaboration Models
- Prioritized List of Potential Strategic Partnerships and Recommended Next Steps
This could be an in-class project or student internship.
About the company
The purpose of NOSTOS - A Veteran's Journey* is to enable post 9/11 Special Operations Forces (SOF) and military personnel to transition successfully into civilian life; to be able to use the unique skills borne of their military service to proactively advance their lives; to re-engage in their home communities and pursue personal visions of their future life after military service.
We are a national organization with local community engagement. NOSTOS is a collaboration between public, private and non-profit support networks that utilizes a proactive framework of evidence-based methods and practices. We leverage technology to facilitate communication, feedback and evaluation and take a customized approach to each individual veteran and his/her family. *NOSTOS is a Greek word meaning “the journey home” in which returning warriors rediscover their identity within themselves and the community enabling a transformation from a war machine to a person of family and community.
