Learner goals and capabilities

Hosting an internship lets you access and help develop the workforce of the future.

By supporting RMIT students’ learning, your workplace will benefit from talented, cost-effective and flexible staffing options. By partnering with us as a host employer, you’ll have access to the next generation of enthusiastic industry professionals with fresh ideas.

Virtual Internship Opportunity: Bring on one more students from RMIT Vietnam in the Electronics & Robotics program to be your virtual interns, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects based on the identification of an opportunity or problem being faced in the field of electrical and electronic/ industrial robotics or automation design engineering.

Most students take part in internships at the end of their study program at RMIT Vietnam which requires full-time mode (40 hours/ week) for the minimum of 12 working weeks (480 hours) of placement from October 2021 to January 2022.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

o Apply Engineering design methodologies and techniques in a variety of specialized areas (Analog circuit, Integrated circuit, Signal processing, Embedded system, Mechanical engineering, Mechatronic engineering, Robotics engineering, Material engineering etc.) to analyze, design, implement, and optimize Engineering products and solutions.

o Familiar with Engineering software (MATLAB, Multisim, LabView, IC design tools from Mentor Graphics, Quartus, Keil C MDK, OrCAD, Solidworks, etc.), development boards and design kits (ARM-core embedded development board, Arduino, DE10 FPGA development board, Quanser Q-bot, etc.), lab tools and equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Signal Generators, etc.)

o Experience in software programming languages (C, C++, Python, MATLAB script, etc.) and hardware description languages common to the industry (Verilog, System Verilog).

Project Examples

Requirements

Students in RMIT Vietnam's Electronics & Robotics program can complete projects in a number of areas. Please find more projects at https://www.rmitshowcase2020.vn/sst-school-projects

Project examples may include, but are not limited to:

Robotic Engineering intern (Robotic Mechatronic Eng.): support the Chief Engineer during the preliminary assembly of the equipment, robot calibration and robot programming. Directly tasked with manipulator setup, calibration, testing and supervising the subsequent assembly by the workers. Additionally, research on the possible efficiency improvements that can be made to the calibration and testing processes.

Intern – Electronics (Electronic/Robotics Eng.) Training on use of robots, automation process of production line and performance of machinery. Training on use of sensors and assisting with electronic circuit design. Training on use of computer vision and machine learning. Training on PCB designing

Intern – Embedded Developer (Electronic/Mechatronics Eng.): Electronic schematic and PCB designing from the scratch. Fault diagnosis of electronic circuits. Firmware and software development for embedded systems. CNC Programming and operation.
