Learner goals and capabilities

At Canadore College, our students in the Human Resources Management program are asked to complete a project in their final term.

Working in small teams of 3-5 students and under the guidance of their teacher, students will apply their learning and analytical skills by conducting research and developing an actionable strategy and recommendations of a Human Resources Management challenge faced by your organization, stakeholders, and /or clients.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

The final project deliverable will include:

  • 15 min presentation
  • Written report for the employer
  • And/or deliverables will be based on the needs of the employer
Project Examples

Examples of projects include but are not limited to:

  • Helping with recruitment and selection activities such as generating job descriptions/job postings, creating a bank of materials for structured/behavioral type job interviews or providing research of best practices
  • Researching and/or Developing on-boarding/orientation program
  • Researching and/or Developing resources for employee and supervisor wellness program
  • Researching and/or Updating employer handbooks and policies
  • Supporting Health & Safety initiatives
  • Researching HRM best practices
  • Researching and/or Developing an Attendance Management Program
Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Provide relevant information/data as needed for the project

Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.

Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.

Be prepared to present the project(s) scope to the students on September 14, 2021.
