Learner goals and capabilities

Working in groups, graduate students in the Business Analytics program will carry out an analytics project from initial requirements analysis to final implementation by analyzing big data using machine learning algorithms and/or statistical models.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Students will conduct an identification of problems, data sets, data pre-processing, building data mining/statistical models, and validation. They will provide a formal presentation of results at the end of the quarter and provide a 15+ page document along with their presentation slides.

Project Examples

Working in groups, graduate students in the Business Analytics program will carry out an analytics project from initial requirements analysis to final implementation by analyzing big data using machine learning algorithms and/or statistical models.

Past project examples include:

  • Data analysis with Alaskan AirlinesĀ 
  • Data analysis of King County (WA) real estate transactions
  • Home loan analysis using Freddie Mac data
  • Marketing analysis for Hawkeye Channel
  • Salary analysis for Payscale
Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Organization size of 500+ employees

Allocate one hour per week to answering student questions and providing information as needed (by email or phone) to support their work

Provide any data the students will require for their analyses
