Bishop's University has been recognized at the top university in Canada for preparing students for professional careers. As part of this preparation, we emphasize experiential learning projects.
Beginning this September, student-consultants will conduct an in-depth strategic analysis of your organization's external and internal environments, identify your company's strategic options and formulate a series of recommendations to maximize your organization's long-term performance and profits in the face of uncertainty and competition. Coming from all functions of business (accounting, finance, management, and marketing - you will have access to a wide breadth of talent.
Final deliverables include:
- Final presentation outlining strategic recommendations. Organizations are invited to attend all final presentations remotely.
- Executive summaries and case analysis. Case analysis include: Statement of problems, statement of alternatives, description of the best-recommended solution, implementation of the solution.

Project Examples
In this capstone project, students will investigate a challenge or opportunity that your organization proposes by analyzing the processes and procedures within your organization as well as external factors that may impact how your company functions.
By taking a holistic approach to your environment, including buyers, suppliers, competitors, technology, the economy, capital markets, government, as well as global forces and viewing the external environment as dynamic and characterized by uncertainty, our students will help create competitive strategies, and to gain a competitive advantage, allowing you to take advantage of external opportunities, securing and defending sustainable market positions, and allocating critical resources over long periods to gain a competitive edge over your competitors.
Example projects include, but are not limited to:
- Developing a three-year growth strategy.
- Evaluate a firm’s corporate, business unit, and international strategies
- External and internal analysis of industry structure, competitive forces, and strategic groups.
- Investigating and recommending a product or service expansion opportunity.
- Assess a firm’s agency problems and stakeholder relationships as it relates to corporate governance practices.
- Communicate strategic recommendations in a clear, concise, and compelling way
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
Be available for a quick phone call with the organizer to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the experience.
