Learner goals and capabilities

Bring on learners from Alma College to be your learner-consultants in a project-based experience. Learners will work on one main project over the semester, connecting with you with virtual communication tools as needed.


In our Physical Computing course, students will gain insight into how engineering, science, and culture intersect, engaging in cross-disciplinary projects to construct interactive physical objects that integrate mechanical, electronic, and computing systems. Through this experience, they will apply models and knowledge from their major to comprehend the intricate connection between technology and society.


Our students are ready to bring their innovative ideas to life. They are eager to collaborate with you to address real-world challenges. With a diverse skill set and a thirst for creativity, they are well-equipped to revolutionize your business.

  2. A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations

Project Examples

Requirements

Learners will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.


Project activities that learners can complete may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Planning, building, and programming prototypes
  • Utilizing AutoCAD to create drawings, plans and models


Past projects include:

  • Developing an underwater drone to take water samples
  • Constructing a remote-controlled boat to measure the flow of a local river
  • Building and programming animatronics
  • Automatic Bartender
  • Rocket engine
