Overview
Details

Trinity Western University's Human Services Certificate Program is dedicated to equipping learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to make meaningful contributions in the field of human services. In this Practicum course, second-year students are seeking real-world experiences to bridge theory with practice, enhance cognitive complexity, and develop practical skills. Employers have the unique opportunity to engage with motivated learners who are eager to apply their academic learning to real-world scenarios. Clear communication, guidance, and feedback are essential elements of this collaborative experience.

Deliverables

At the conclusion of the collaboration, employers can expect to receive a final report highlighting the main findings and recommendations proposed by the students. Additionally, learners will present their project outcomes in a final presentation, providing an opportunity for employers to engage directly with the students and ask questions about their work.

Project Examples

Employers have the chance to engage in meaningful collaborations with our students by offering projects that align with the goals and objectives of our Human Services Practicum.

Examples:

  1. Program Development Tasks: Partner with our students to develop innovative programs aimed at enhancing services for vulnerable populations.
  2. Support for Women and Children: Work alongside students to provide support and resources for women and children from abusive backgrounds, fostering healing and empowerment.
  3. Leadership Development: Collaborate with learners to lead Chemical Dependency Outpatient Groups, addressing substance abuse issues in the community.

What Not to Propose:

Projects that do not align with the objectives of the Human Services Practicum or do not offer meaningful learning opportunities for students may not be suitable for this experience.
