Brought to you by ACCES Employment and Humber College, this unique program supports highly skilled immigrants transition into the Canadian job market.

Deliverables

Phase 1 – Project Plan: Students will meet with organization representative(s) to devise the project scope and prepare a detailed plan for completion of the project.

Phase 2 – Project Execution: Students will work on deliverables outlined in the project plan. Teams will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.

Phase 3 - Outcome: The final deliverables will be agreed upon in Phase 1 and will vary by project. Generally, your organization will receive a report, live presentation, and/or project plan.

Project Examples

Starting May, a class of finance sector professionals from across the world will spend 210 collective hours working in groups to provide unique insights and develop improvements for your financial services offerings. Participants will take a holistic approach, analyzing the topic of your choice from the perspective of multiple finance sector disciplines to generate the most beneficial and multidimensional recommendations for your organization.

Based on the mutually defined scope and specifications, each group will develop a project charter, specifications, and full project plan.

Participant Details:

  • Represent a variety of disciplines within finance including, but not limited to, AML, risk management, legislative compliance, financial analysis, project management, and commercial banking.
  • Have at least five years of experience in financial services.
  • Are highly trained and educated, with over 80% having completed a Master’s Degree.
  • Recent graduates have been hired by RBC, TD Bank, Questrade, and Rogers in positions such as Business Analyst, SME Account Manager, AML Analyst, and Senior Data Analyst.

Sample projects topics include, but are not limited to:

  • New Products
  • Finance
  • Risk, audit, and compliance

  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Equity research
  • Insurance
  • Capital markets
  • Investments

Specific examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessing a new product entering the marketplace to review internal risk, legislative, compliance, and business process implications, including marketing, sales, and customer experience plans.
  • Comparing different service (insurance, software, etc.) providers and curating a recommend selection for your consideration.
  • Analyzing your customer invoicing processes and providing recommendations for improvement.
