Overview
Learner goals and capabilities

Students will create a strategic public relations plan for your organization that solves a communication challenge or marketing goal.

Expected outcomes and deliverables
  • Comprehensive written communication plan
  • Presentation (PowerPoint) detailing the highlights of the plan
  • Supporting documents or content (examples includes press releases, media pitch, fact sheet, story angles, media lists, social media plan, etc.)
Project Examples

Fourth year student-consultants will spend 60+ hours working with your organization on a communications or public relations challenge. Simulating an agency, students will go through the strategic planning process to create a public relations plan including situation analysis, research and insights, target audience identification, strategy, execution/ideas, timeline and budgets. Upon completion, the organization will have a full communication plan with ideas for execution (no advertising). Teams also may draft media materials and other documents during the process including press releases, social media content, creative content, media pitches, etc.

Examples of project scopes include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic PR plan to launch a new product or promote an existing product/service
  • Plan to raise visibility and attract new members for a nonprofit organization
  • Creative approach and plan for publicizing a business to consumers
