Students will meet the client and Chamber representative to learn more about the project, the non-profit, goals/expected outcomes, and begin working on the project.

February 10, 2025Secondary Research: Website Analysis and Review
Students will review the non-profit's website, those of the state agency / funding provider, and any other websites provided by the client. They will use this information to learn about the business, the industry, and also provide suggested website improvements to the client.

February 24, 2025Research Instruments & Research Plans
Students will be placed in teams to develop survey questions and focus group questions. They will develop a full plan for how the research will be administered.

March 17, 2025Raw Data Files, Recordings, Transcripts
Students will collect data and create records of the raw data files (i.e., numerical output, recordings and transcripts for verbal data).

Students will analyze the data and develop summaries, including charts, graphs, infographics and visualizations of the results.

Students will create a written report and slide deck for final presentations of the research results and conclusions drawn for the client.

This opportunity, provided by York County Regional Chamber of Commerce offers local businesses to work with learners from Winthrop University to help you problem solve or focus on a specific business challenge.
The learners will collaborate with you on the challenge, how this might be approached, what solutions could be posed and present you with final presentations.
-Secondary research - review of the websites of the non-profit, their regulatory agencies, and competitors, along with suggested ideas for improvement of web site content
-Primary research, survey - develop a survey instrument, administer the survey to an appropriate audience, and analyze the data
-Primary research, focus group - develop focus group questions, administer the focus group to an appropriate audience, and analyze the data
-Report and presentation - present the findings via data visualizations, develop insights from the data, and draw conclusions from the results

Project Examples
Students will be tasked with conducting various types of market research to support the strategic planning activities of a non-profit health service provider. Students will collect and utilize several types of data, drawn from different target audiences, to support the development of the non-profit's strategic planning efforts.
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Dr. Peters is Professor of Marketing who has worked at various universities for over 25 years. She has worked with students on client projects in the past as well. She has won awards for her work with students on behalf of Chevrolet.
This project will provide real world market research skills to students while also helping them learn and practice communication, team work, collaboration, fortitude and time management skills.
This activity is designed as a specific project to support learners who are enrolled in a core business research class at Winthrop University and is not filling in missing headcount for the organization.
