Project Examples

Official project kickoff: September 5, 2017

Team selection starts from May 2017

Over two semesters, a group of 4th-year student-consultants will assess your business processes in order to identify an issue or opportunity for improvement using technology.

After identifying where an IT solution is needed, students will research and compare different solutions and vendors. They will go through an RFP process on your behalf, compare responses, and recommend the best solution.

Finally, the student group will identify any risks associated with the implementation and detail the change management processes needed.

Project scope can include, but is not limited to:

  • Sales/marketing gaps indicating a need for CRM solutions
  • Large volume of sales transactions data requiring a better system for tracking
  • Website performance issues indicating a need for a new hosting solution
  • Issues with orders or payments that show a need for a new procurement software
  • Inventory control issues that could be addressed by a new order management program
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Have premises in the GTA (not mandatory, but preference will be given to local organizations)

Complete a project charter (Project Management documents with students) to confirm a communication plan and to define the scope of the project

Be willing to spend roughly 10-20 hours in the first month of each semester with the students to facilitate developing project direction/foundation, information gathering, etc.

Be willing to provide information around your businesses process including budget, strategy, etc. (NDAs can be signed should you require it)

Be responsive to periodic emails to answer any questions or concerns that the student(s) may have as they progress
