Learners will support ongoing research through literature reviews, data synthesis, or comparative analysis.
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
The project outcomes should align with beginner level capability. Polygence Internship students are new to or are acquiring foundational skills in the subject area of the project. The deliverables are noted with a 4 week window as the foundation. For the cohort listed to start June 15th, the deliverables should be tracked over a 6 week period. You will be assigned a team of 2-3 students for your project and the outcomes/deliverables should achievable within 40-60 hours per student.
Week 1: Topic Framing & Literature Review
- Define scope with your team and begin researching key sources.
- Build an annotated bibliography.
Week 2: Research Summaries & Knowledge Mapping
- Identify key findings and research gaps.
- Organize research thematically (e.g., water stress, energy transition, urban heat).
Week 3: Analysis & Synthesis
- Synthesize findings into visual or written summaries.
- Propose questions or hypotheses for further study.
Week 4: Research Brief & Presentation
- Deliver a brief or slide deck with synthesized findings.
- Recommend next steps for testing or exploration.
The employer will provide:
- Access to Research Goals and Internal Data (if applicable)
- Mentorship from Subject Matter Experts
- Opportunities to Align Work with Ongoing Studies or Proposals
