Work with experienced professionals from around the world to develop solutions to your supply chain problems. This class is brought to you by ACCES Employment and Sheridan College through a unique program that supports highly skilled immigrants’ transitions into the Canadian job market.

Deliverables

Phase 1 – Project Plan: Students will meet with organization representative(s) to devise the project scope and prepare a detailed plan for completion of the project.

Phase 2 – Project Execution: Students will work on deliverables outlined in the project plan. Teams will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.

Phase 3 - Outcome: The final deliverables will be agreed upon in Phase 1 and will vary by project. Generally, your organization will receive a report, live presentation, or project plan.

Project Examples

Work with us to establish the scope and specifications of the project and our class will develop a project charter, specifications and full project plan.

Sample projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Demand forecasting
  • Improving workflow in distribution centre warehouses
  • Determining the best price for products/services

Class participants:

  • Represent a variety of disciplines within supply chain including procurement, demand planning, forecasting, logistics, inventory control and operations management
  • Have an average of 8 years of experience in supply chain
  • Are highly trained and educated, with roughly 99% having completed undergraduate degree and around 50% having completed graduate studies
  • Recent graduates have been hired by Black and McDonald; Toronto Hydro; Canada Post; Johnson and Johnson in positions such as Senior Procurement Specialist; Audit, Risk, Compliance Consultant; Procurement Specialist and Supply Chain Analyst
Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be willing to work with 4-5 student groups; you can communicate through team communication leads or the project coordinator.

Present your project to students either in person or in a detailed written briefing.

Provide a Riipen skill rating on student performance upon completion of the project.

Be available for a quick phone call with the organizer to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the experience.

Provide feedback on up to 5 deliverables.

Minimum of 2-4 interactions with the students in-person or remotely (approximately 4-6 hours over the duration of the project).
