Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on learners from Roanoke College to be your learner-consultants, in a project-based experience. Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. According to the National Institutes of Mental Health, one in five people suffer from some type of mental illness in the United States. The number of people being diagnosed has significantly increased in the last several years. Two categories are used to describe mental illness: any mental illness (AMI) and serious mental illness (SMI) Young adults aged 18-25 years have the highest prevalence of AMI and SMI compared to adults aged 26 or older these numbers are expected to continue to increase. Why are we seeing this increase and what can be done? Learners in this program/experience, through reading, research, writing and presenting, will work independently and in groups to answer this question and propose potential solutions to the mental health crisis.
