Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Justlife is a charity advocating for people who are hidden homeless and living in temporary accommodation.

Nationally, our work identifies and advocates for much needed long term solutions to hidden homelessness. Locally, our service supports people experiencing homelessness in temporary accommodation with welfare, health and housing needs.

All our work is aimed at making stays in temporary accommodation as short, safe and healthy as possible.

How can we create a successful fundraising event to generate new supporters to Justlife and raise awareness of our important local cause?

Especially in current climes, we are facing challenges with engaging with local businesses, organisations and individuals to support our work.

We would like to collaborate with students to plan a fundraising event to help meet our goals.

This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

  • Familiarizing themselves with our mission, values and goals.
  • Considering how they might attract 50-100 new local supporters to our cause through an initiative or a fundraising event.
  • Considering methods you could use to convert these new supporters to support financially on a long term basis.
  • Considering what methods of engagement you could try with these supporters, via our website, newsletters, face to face, and other ideas.
  • Creating a plan of action and a detailed breakdown of tasks for volunteers to complete at the event.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

  • Understanding of our mission, values and goals

Final deliverables should include demonstrating how you would...

  • attract 50-100 new local supporters to our cause through an initiative or a fundraising event.
  • convert these new supporters to support financially on a long term basis.
  • demonstrate different methods of engagement you could try with these supporters, via our website, newsletters, face to face, and other ideas.
  • Present a plan of action and a detailed breakdown of tasks for volunteers to complete before the event, during and after the event.
How will you support learners in completing the project?

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Our mission, values and goals
  • Our programs and fundraising events
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.
What skills or technologies will help learners to complete the project?

In order to complete this project, students can self-teach, but it is beneficial to be familiar with:

  • Event planning
  • Research
  • Budgeting / Finance

Again, students can complete this project without any of the prior knowledge listed here. Students will be expected to research and learn more about the above as the project goes along.

Our vision is to make people’s experience of temporary accommodation as short, safe and healthy as possible. No one should face homelessness alone but thousands are stuck in temporary accommodation, with no understanding of their rights, no knowledge of their housing options, and no clear pathway out of homelessness. Justlife is there for the people who slip through the cracks of England's housing system.

Every time we don’t act, another person living in unsupported & unsuitable temporary accommodation is at risk of losing control of their life, dropping off the bottom rung of the housing ladder or dying prematurely. Since our inception, we've played a crucial part in the prevention of this, giving people hope that their lives can change for the better.
