Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Our organization is interested in addressing the prevalence of domestic vilence in new and innovative ways. However, we are currently facing funding challenges related to working with people who have used violence. Most funding is aimed at helping survivors rather than helping people making a peacful change in their behaviors

We would like to collaborate with students to find and complete grant applications.

This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

  • Familiarizing themselves with our vision statement and a project we have defined.
  • Developing a needs statement that characterizes the community problem and justifies the need for our project and funding.
  • Identifying potential sponsors and funding opportunities that are a good fit for our organization and project.
  • Improving the clarity and persuasiveness of our company's grant proposal writing.

Bonus steps in the process would also include:

  • Identifying new opportunities for community projects.
  • Working with a program that is doing something different than everyone else in the Western Hemisphere
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

  • Understanding of our organization’s values and purpose
  • Understanding of the community project
  • Identification of potential sponsors and funding sources
  • Recommendations for improving our grant proposals

Bonus steps would include:

  • Defining new community projects with appropriate scopes

Final deliverables should include

  • A 10-minute presentation.
How will you support learners in completing the project?

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Our mission and vision statement
  • Our community projects and previous grant applications
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.
What skills or technologies will help learners to complete the project?

In order to complete this project, students can self-teach, but it is beneficial to be familiar with:

  • Formal grant writing

Again, students can complete this project without any of the prior knowledge listed here. Students will be expected to research and learn more about the above as the project goes along.

About the company

Amethyst Center for Healing was founded by two women with the lofty idea of creating a safe space for people to find peace within themselves, without judgment, and without shame.

At Amethyst Center for Healing, we are dedicated to helping individuals, families, and communities recover from trauma and abuse, so that we may all live peaceful, empowered lives. We understand that sometimes people go through things that never should have happened and that those circumstances can be damaging for everyone involved. We are here to help heal the wounds of trauma and abuse. As trauma-informed, solution-oriented therapists, we will explore your past, present, and potential circumstances with you and help you find a plan for what is going to work best to get you moving forward to the healthy, productive life you want to live.
