Details

Peak Experiences Ltd. (PeakXP) is developing a set of visual mindset cards to support ethical, empathic, and equity-centred research training for students, educators, and non-profit practitioners working in community-based settings. Each card will feature a guiding mindset, such as "Attend to Healing," "Be with the Unknown," or "Practice Creative Courage," paired with a short written reflection or explainer.

As the designer, you will be invited to create 8 to 16 original visual assets that reflect and represent these mindsets. You may work in illustration, photography, iconography, or another visual medium that suits your style. The final images will be used on printable, postcard-sized cards and shared through a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike licensed toolkit for training, academic publications, and public education.

This project is ideal for a creative student interested in visual storytelling, social change, and building a meaningful portfolio. You do not need to be a professional or experienced artist. We welcome emerging creatives with a strong sense of visual expression and a desire to contribute. When applying, please include a link or sample of something you have created that gives us a feel for your creative style.

Deliverables

βœ… Concept Development – Review a set of mindset prompts and short explainers provided by Peak XP, along with visual inspiration from existing tools like Liberatory Design. You'll get a sense of the tone, themes, and intended audience, and use that to fuel your creative process.

βœ… Visual Design & Illustration – Create 8-16 unique emblematic designs in your style. These could be illustrations, icons, photo-based compositions, or anything that creatively expresses each mindset.

βœ… Digital Asset Production – Deliver high-quality, web-optimized files (e.g., PNG/SVG for digital use and print-ready formats if needed).

βœ… Cohesive Aesthetic & Style Guide – While you define the style, your set should feel visually unified. Include a simple 1-page style guide outlining key elements like colour palette, fonts, or visual logic to keep the set consistent and usable across platforms.

βœ… Iterative Design & Feedback Process – Share work-in-progress designs for review, incorporate feedback, and refine the final set before submitting a packaged folder of design assets. You'll submit a final packaged folder with all digital assets.

βœ… (Optional) Mockups – If you have extra time or an interest in document or layout design, create a few simple mockups showing how your visuals might appear on cards, in a digital toolkit, or on a website.
