A 50-hour, project-based experience for career-switching learners interested in exploring careers in Cybersecurity.

Submit a cybersecurity-focused project for the Skills Lab team to review. If approved, your project will be matched with 3–5 participants per team, contributing a combined total of up to 250 hours of meaningful, real-world work.

This experience is designed for adult learners who have completed foundational training in cybersecurity. Participants bring skills in threat identification, network security, systems configuration, scripting, penetration testing, and incident response, and are ready to apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios.

Learner Goals and Capabilities

Participants are prepared to:

• Identify and assess basic cybersecurity threats, develop simple risk mitigation strategies, and draft security policies.
• Configure and secure basic Linux and Windows server settings and automate simple tasks using Bash and PowerShell.
• Analyze network traffic, identify common signs of malicious activity, and implement fundamental network security measures including basic encryption.
• Conduct introductory penetration testing and vulnerability assessments using tools like Metasploit and Nessus, providing prioritized mitigation recommendations.
• Set up and configure basic SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk) for security monitoring and perform initial forensic investigations to analyze and recover data.
• Work collaboratively to deliver clear, actionable security findings in a professional format.

Participants seek hands-on, entry-level experience where they can deliver actionable insights for the employer’s organization.

Project deliverables will vary based on scope, but by the end of the experience, you’ll have tangible data analytics assets such as reports, dashboards, or datasets that support your business goals.
