Overview
- Learner goals and capabilities

A full class of mid-to-senior-level Finance professionals, under the guidance of a Humber College instructor, will analyze a Financial Service or IT challenge of your choice and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Expected outcomes and deliverables
-
Phase 1 – Project Plan: Students will meet with organization representative(s) to devise the project scope and prepare a detailed plan for completion of the project.
Phase 2 – Project Execution: Students will work on deliverables outlined in the project plan. Teams will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.
Phase 3 - Outcome: The final deliverables will be agreed upon in Phase 1 and will vary by project. Generally, your organization will receive a report, live presentation, or project plan.
Project Examples
Starting late July, a full class of recently immigrated Finance professionals in groups of 5 will spend 50 hours per group working to improve a Financial Service or IT challenge your orgnization faces.
The professional students will establish the scope and specifications of the project and develop a project charter, specifications, and a full project plan to overcome your challenges and achieve your goals.
Sample projects include, but are not limited to:
- Finance.
- Risk, audit and compliance.
- Fraud.
- Customer service.
- Bank products.
- Financing and loans.
- Mergers and acquisition.
- Equity research.
- Insurance.
- Capital markets.
- Investments.
Specific examples include, but are not limited to:
- Comparing different insurance providers and curating a recommended selection.
- Reviewing the allocations of an investment portfolio.
- Analyzing your customer invoicing processes and providing recommendations for improvement.
Class participants:
- Represent a variety of disciplines within Finance including, but not limited to, AML, compliance, project management, and commercial banking.
- Have on average 10 years of experience in financial services, mostly in management positions.
- Are highly trained and educated, with over 80% having completed a Master’s Degree.
- Recent graduates have been hired by TD Bank, Scotiabank, RBC and Manulife in positions such as Technology Analyst Specialist, Manager of Fraud and Security, Director of International Business and Senior Relationship Manager.

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Present your project to students either in person or in a detailed written briefing.
Provide feedback on up to 5 deliverables, and hear students' presentations in person.
Be available for a quick phone call with the organizer to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the experience.
Be willing to work with up to 5 student groups; you can communicate through team communication leads, or the project coordinator.
