COOP 290 Student Story - Phase 1 (Planning)

Through the Co-operative Education Stream, students grow as young professionals through the four courses that they complete. That Co-op journey has inspired the idea of creating a COOP 290 “Student” whose story Co-op students can follow through their journey throughout the COOP 290 coursework. The goal is that students will identify more with the phases of career exploration and development by personalizing the process. This is intended as a team project for a team of 2-3 students. The project will be divided into two phases: In phase one, the focus will be on a curriculum design focus for integrating the material and the story into the COOP 290 curriculum. This will include mapping the elements and choosing an instructional design for the coursework. It is intended that a major focus for that design plan will be integrating videos (both live and animated) to supplement the existing print material. Students will also assist with creating scripts and storyboards for animated videos.

Communications Module - Transition from Classroom to Work Experience

Currently there is a module in COOP 290 related to workplace expectations which analyzes themes such as professionalism, workplace bullying, and office etiquette. This project would focus on supplementing that material with a communications module which would provide more specific content for students to assist with the transition to the professional workplace. A primary focus would be on communication including: · What to expect on your first day, week, term · Communication styles · Setting communication expectations with your supervisor · Collaborating with teams · Professional e-mail correspondence
